For the Lord's portion is His people; Jacob(or Israel) is the lot of His inheritance. He found him in a desert land, in the howling void of the wilderness; He kept circling around him. He scanned him (penertraringly). He kept him as the pupil of His eye. As an eagle that stirs up her nest, that flutters over her young. He spread abroad His wings and He took them, He bore them on His pinions. (Deuteronomy 32: 9-11)
The men at the Eagles Nest is protrayed as Israel is pictured in the story in Deuteronomy, they are the Lord's people, his inheritance. He found them in the streets of St. croix, the prison, in the waste place of their lives; and he kept them as pupil of his eye. They came to the Eagles Nest to learn to fly again. Men at the Eagles Nest has been damage by lifes struggles. Like the mother eagle we stir up their lives through our programs taking them to heights, teaching them to fly; through our vision and mission.

To provide temporary housing and shelter for men coming out of prison, and for those who desire to get off the streets of St. Croix; and become productive citizens once again. It is our desire to provide spiritual inspiration, assist them in finding jobs, mentoring, life skills and some financial assistance.
The Vision involves carrying out what is called the true fast of God found in Isaiah 58: 6-7 "To loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and to break every yoke. It is not to share our food with the hungry, to provide the poor wanderer with shelter, clothe the naked, and not turn away from our own flesh and blood?" (NIV)
The Vision Includes rebuilding the waste places of the lives of the homeless population in our community, and to raise up the foundation of many generations that have become homeless due to imprisonment or some misfortune. We can do this by creating opportunities through the programs we offer. The Mission of the Eagles Nest is to provide and support programs and assist other Non-Profit Organizations with programs of mental health and rehabilitation assistance for the homeless. We can accomplish this by and through the solicitation of direct grants and donations made to support our programs. |
